Work created for the Small and Tall Artists Club project in collaboration with Gallea and the Breakfast Club of Canada, where 50 percent of the money goes to Breakfast Club of Canada which provides breakfast to kids around Canada. The painting was inspired by a drawing of a 7-year-old artist named Genève. Upon looking at their drawing, I loved the cute mouse with its rainbow backpack and the night sky in the distance, I knew I would want to create a painting with the same character and with similar colours. I also begin to wonder what this little mouse was doing in the middle of the night, was it going on a journey of some sort, and pictured a friend group of colourful mice traveling together, holding each other’s cape so no one would be left behind. Work is created with gouache and then outline with marker and white gel, to aid in popping certain aspects. If you look closely in the sky, you may see tiny mice hidden around.
